Chicago Mayor Responds To Report About Local School

The Left’s war on truth has hit a new low, and this time, it comes at the expense of facts, public trust, and even children. The latest manufactured outrage stems from Chicago, where left-wing politicians and media outlets falsely accused Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) of raiding an elementary school. In reality, the federal agents who showed up were from the U.S. Secret Service, investigating a threat entirely unrelated to immigration enforcement. But the truth didn’t stop Democrats and activists from stoking fear and spreading misinformation, all in an attempt to smear President Donald Trump’s administration for following through on his campaign promise to enforce immigration laws.

Here’s what really happened: On Friday, agents from the U.S. Secret Service visited Hamline Elementary School in Chicago while investigating a threat. School officials, upon seeing their Department of Homeland Security (DHS) identification, assumed they were from ICE and immediately sounded the alarm. This mistake led to a flood of baseless accusations, with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) and Illinois Democrats accusing the Trump administration of conducting “raids” targeting children.

The false narrative spread like wildfire. Hamline Elementary principal Natasha Ortega issued a defiant statement, vowing, “We will not open our doors for ICE, and we are here to protect our children.” Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker piled on, calling the nonexistent raids “cruel and un-American” in a post on X (formerly Twitter). Even after the truth came out, some, like Alderman Raymond Lopez, doubled down on the hysteria, claiming the scenario justified their opposition to immigration enforcement.

The reality, of course, was far less dramatic. Secret Service agents were investigating a credible threat and had visited a residence where they were told the individual in question was at the school. ICE was never involved, nor were they even in the area. As Fox News’ Bill Melugin pointed out, no one pushing this false narrative bothered to verify their claims with DHS or ICE, both of which denied any involvement. Chicago’s Democratic Mayor Brandon Johnson, to his credit, later urged people not to spread unverified information. But by then, the damage was done.

This isn’t just a case of a misunderstanding—it’s a deliberate attempt to manipulate the public into opposing Trump’s immigration policies by fabricating horror stories. The playbook is predictable: manufacture outrage, spread misinformation, and let the media amplify it until the truth becomes irrelevant. The timing is no coincidence either. Trump has barely been in office for a week, and already the Left is resorting to fearmongering to undermine the policies that put him in the White House.

The truth is that Trump’s immigration enforcement is targeted, strategic, and focused on protecting Americans. ICE has already arrested 1,300 illegal immigrants since Trump’s inauguration, the majority of whom are criminals, fugitives, or individuals who have defied deportation orders. Border Czar Tom Homan has made it clear: “If you’re in the United States illegally, you’ve got a problem. But we are concentrating on public safety threats first. That just makes sense.”

But to the Left, facts don’t matter. On the day of Trump’s inauguration, media outlets pushed a narrative of a woman crying at the border because she couldn’t gain asylum by illegally crossing into the U.S. Stories like these are crafted to tug at heartstrings while omitting critical context, like the fact that America has legal immigration processes that millions follow each year.

The manufactured outrage over the Hamline Elementary non-raid is no different. It’s part of a coordinated effort to delegitimize Trump’s administration and his mandate to secure the border. Democrats and their media allies are more than willing to stoke fear, even if it means spreading outright falsehoods, all to score political points.
