Fox News viewers are reeling, as the network continues to face difficulties since the termination of its popular host, Tucker Carlson.
A few months ago, Carlon was fired for on–air remarks deemed “disrespectful and outrageous” by Fox News. The blowback has been immense, with many viewers tuning out in protest.
But that’s not all. Carlson’s new Twitter show has seen an impressive surge in viewership, while Fox News’ ratings continue to plummet. Last week, long–time Fox News veteran and former Chyron senior producer Frank Wu was reportedly forced to resign after approving an on–air chyron with the phrase “Wannabe dictator speaks at White House after having his political rival arrested”.
Things have become so bad that internal employee portals have been filled with LGBTQ pride propaganda, and a number of former guests have refused to appear on the network ever again.
The situation has only gotten worse in the wake of Carlson’s departure. According to Chadwick Moore, who recently wrote a book about Carlson’s tenure at the network, at least nine staffers have left the channel and joined forces with Carlson’s team. It is also possible that Frank Wu, the man who was let go for the Chyron incident, has joined the former host’s ranks too.
As of right now, MSNBC has jumped ahead of Fox News as the most–watched cable news channel, signaling that many viewers are unhappy with the direction the network has taken since Carlson’s initial dismissal.
It seems Rupert Murdoch, or whichever member of his family inherited his network, made a major miscalculation when they decided to let go of the number one cable news show. Clearly, viewers have not forgotten nor forgiven the network for its decision.
What might be the future of Fox News? We’ll have to wait and see, but considering how far the network’s ratings have fallen and how many viewers have abandoned them, it won’t be easy.
