Ilhan Omar Hires Biden Attorney And Trump Impeachment Lawyer

Rep. Ilhan Omar has hired a legal team with deep ties to the Biden White House and Trump impeachment battles. This comes just days after federal agents raided her Washington home and seized her personal property.

According to the New York Post, Omar now has two partners from the firm Hecker Fink representing her. One is Amy Jeffress, who became former President Joe Biden’s personal attorney in 2025. The other is Joshua Matz, who represented House Democrats during both of President Trump’s impeachments.

The New York Post notes that Jeffress previously represented President Donald Trump regarding an autopen investigation. She also did outside work for the House Jan. 6 committee and represented former FBI lawyer Lisa Page. Matz served on that same committee’s legal team. He also defended universities against Trump administration orders on diversity policies.

Per the Daily Wire, neither lawyer focuses on immigration law. Instead, both specialize in constitutional disputes and government investigations. This is the team Omar is using to fight a probe into her naturalization papers and her 2009 marriage.

Homeland Security agents searched Omar’s home on October 12. They took her phone, passport, computers, and notebooks. Investigators are looking at whether Omar or her late father lied about her age. They are also checking long-standing claims that her marriage was actually to her brother.

On October 16, Jeffress and Matz sent a letter to the Justice Department. They demanded the return of all seized items. The letter accused agents of ignoring a judge’s search protocols.

A Justice Department filing lists Omar as “Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, a/k/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar.” Omar’s spokesperson told Fox News Digital that this claim is “completely false.” The spokesperson called the marriage allegations a “disgusting conspiracy theory.”

Omar took to social media to attack President Trump over the probe.

A video captured Omar in the back of a car that was moving. She asked supporters for money to pay for her legal defense. “It is going to be a very expensive and challenging time and so we appreciate whether you’re able to send $5, $10, $20,” she said.

The probe involves serious questions about her identity and family history. The legal team she hired has fought the government on both sides of the aisle. The investigation continues as her lawyers demand the return of her personal effects.
