Lead Republican Calls For ‘Check And Balance’ On ‘Far-Left Agenda’ Due To Americans Being ‘Fed Up With The Far-Left Shift’

This past Sunday, House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) laid into far-leftist policies, making the claim that the American public is “fed up with the far-left shift” being seen in the country.

While speaking on a segment of Fox News Sunday, Rep. Scalise highlighted the commitment from House Republicans to America while stating that the American people are attempting to seek a “check and balance” to the extreme left agenda being pushed via the Democratic leadership.

“They’re not looking at the Democrats’ agenda saying they want more of it,” expressed Scalise, seemingly making reference to the high rate of inflation. “They’re saying they’re fed up with the far-left shift that both Biden and [House Speaker Nancy] Pelosi have taken us,” he went on,  “Not down a liberal road but down a socialist road. That’s what people are rejecting, and that’s what we’re proposing an alternative to with the Commitment to America.”

First introduced this past month by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), the Commitment to America explains the agenda for the Republicans of the House if they should go after and regain control of the chamber in the wake of the upcoming November midterm elections. Currently, Republicans are heavily being favored, sporting an almost 71% chance of winning in the House, as expressed via a forecast from FiveThirtyEight.

The plan from the GOP currently sports a total of four major hallmarks: “An Economy That’s Strong,” “A Nation That’s Safe,” “A Future That’s Built On Freedom,” and “A Government That’s Accountable.” The recently expressed agenda includes the goal of battling inflation, securing the border, and pushing the country to be energy-independent.

Scalise made the claim that Americans “want a check and balance on this far-left agenda,” seemingly a reference to the policies on crime, energy, and cashless bail coming from Democrats. He stated that Americans are “furious about rising crime, because Democrats embrace, not only the defund police movement, one of the craziest ideas I’ve ever heard, but now they’re going to cashless bail.”

As reported by a poll carried out and made public by Monmouth University in early October, roughly 72% of the American public expressed that crime was “extremely or very important,” all in the wake of 82% who felt the exact same way about inflation. as part of the survey, the approval rating for Old Uncle Joe cocnerning crime sat at a paltry 32%. As reported by a poll carried out by Reuter’s/Ipsos which was released this month, voters on average prefer Republicans to deal with the crime problem over Democrats, 40% to 32%.

Shannon Bream, the host of the show, highlighted in the segment that a poll from Fox News, released on Sunday, that Democrats lead Republicans 44% to 41% in congressional vote preference. The results showed that 6% of Americans are in favor of the Commitment to America, while 21% view it unfavorably, and 52% are still quite unfamilar with the initiative.
