The endless virtue signaling of modern local politics knows no bounds, and in Massachusetts, the city of Worcester has taken it to a new level. In what can only be described as performative activism, the city council recently passed an ordinance declaring Worcester a sanctuary city for transgender individuals. What that actually means in practice is anyone’s guess—no one was being persecuted there in the first place—but the activists who demanded it screeched loud enough to get their symbolic victory.
This kind of empty posturing is nothing new. Back in 2010, the Los Angeles City Council voted to ban government travel and contracts with Arizona over its immigration law, SB 1070. Former Councilmember Ed Reyes took the usual path of calling everything he disliked Nazi Germany, claiming that Arizona had essentially criminalized being brown. “If I come across an officer who’s having a bad day and feels that the picture on my ID is not me, I can be … deported, no questions asked,” Reyes warned. That was nonsense then, and it’s nonsense now.

Fast forward 15 years, and cities across California have taken their sanctuary nonsense to another level by actively obstructing federal immigration enforcement. They refuse to cooperate with ICE, even when it comes to violent felons—rapists, child predators, the absolute worst of the worst. And just recently, someone inside Los Angeles government leaked ICE’s plans to conduct raids in the city, giving criminals a heads-up to flee. Apparently, tipping off illegal alien felons is what passes for moral high ground in certain circles.
And then, of course, there’s Chris Kluwe, the former NFL punter who has gone full-time social justice warrior. Kluwe has long since abandoned the guise of being a football player in favor of yelling at clouds on the internet. Recently, he lost his mind over the NFL removing “End Racism” from the end zones, somehow convincing himself that it was all a ploy to appease Donald Trump.
This courageous man merely spoke the truth, there was no violence.
The January 6 participants were violent, threatened the peaceful transfer of power, attack police and killed people.
MAGA glorified the J-6 participants and sent the goon squad after this man.

Kluwe’s logic? If the NFL stops its hollow virtue signaling, it will lose money. “Forget the moral aspect of it for a second,” he said on a podcast. “You are literally costing yourselves money.” Setting aside his laughable attempt at business analysis, Kluwe seems unaware that meaningless slogans do nothing. No one suddenly became less racist because “End Racism” was painted in an end zone. No one reverted to racism because it was removed. It was corporate propaganda, nothing more.
But Kluwe wasn’t done embarrassing himself. He recently showed up at a Huntington Beach city council meeting dressed like a hobo and started screeching about Trump and Nazis. His outrage? The city wanted to put up a sign in a public library using the words “Magical,” “Alluring,” “Galvanizing,” and “Adventurous” in sequence—spelling out “MAGA.”
That was enough for Kluwe to lose it completely. He grandly announced, “I will now engage in the time-honored American tradition of peaceful civil disobedience” before storming the front of the council chamber. It didn’t end well—he was promptly arrested.
