Melania Trump Sends Letter Warning Of Lawsuit Following Callaghan Interview

First Lady Melania Trump is preparing for a legal showdown with Hunter Biden after her attorneys accused the president’s son of spreading false and defamatory claims linking her to the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

According to a demand letter sent by Trump’s litigation counsel Alejandro Brito, Biden made the remarks in an August interview on Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan, a YouTube program whose two recent videos featuring Biden have drawn millions of views.

In the August 5 episode—which has amassed over 1.2 million views—Biden allegedly claimed that Epstein introduced Melania Trump to then–businessman Donald Trump, citing a Daily Beast article authored by Michael Wolff.

That article, Brito notes, has since been removed in its entirety, with The Daily Beast issuing a public apology to Melania Trump after receiving a cease-and-desist letter. Brito describes Wolff as a “serial fabulist” and argues that Biden “maliciously elected to republish” those debunked statements in his interview.

The letter demands that Biden issue both a public retraction and an apology, and that he preserve all communications and evidence related to the comments.

It warns that failure to comply will leave Melania Trump “no alternative but to enforce her legal and equitable rights… including by filing legal action for over $1 billion in damages.”

The legal team accuses Biden’s statements of causing “overwhelming financial and reputational harm” to the first lady, noting that the interview’s reach was amplified after being republished by other media outlets, journalists, and political commentators with large social media followings.

Biden’s appearance on Channel 5 has been split into two videos—one from July 21, running roughly three hours with over 3.6 million views, and the August video containing the disputed remarks.

The looming lawsuit would add yet another high-profile legal fight to the already fraught political and personal landscape surrounding Hunter Biden. For Melania Trump, the case is as much about defending her personal reputation as it is about drawing a hard line against the resurfacing of allegations previously retracted by major outlets.
