Elon Musk delivered a sharp rebuke to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz after the failed vice presidential candidate took an unprovoked swipe at Tesla’s stock decline. Walz, still struggling to accept his and Kamala Harris’ defeat in November, has been on a bizarre tirade for weeks, attacking the Trump administration and making increasingly inflammatory statements.
During a town hall event in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Walz continued his attacks on Musk, reveling in Tesla’s stock drop. “I’m not a vindictive person or anything, but I take great pleasure in the fact that this guy’s life is going to get very, very difficult,” Walz said, making the comment as Tesla dealerships across the country face a string of violent firebombing attacks.

The governor went on to boast about tracking Tesla’s stock on his phone, “225 and dropping!” he gloated. He also encouraged Tesla owners to remove the company’s logo from their vehicles. “If you own one, we’re not blaming you. You can take dental floss and pull the Tesla thing off, you know? I’m just tellin’ you.”
Musk, unbothered by Walz’s pettiness, responded with a brutal reminder of the governor’s current irrelevance. “Sometimes, when I need a little boost, I look at the @JDVance portrait in the @WhiteHouse and thank the Lord,” he posted on X.

The message was clear—Walz is not in the White House, and he never will be.
While Musk’s response was pointed, the real issue is Walz’s rhetoric. His words serve as a direct signal to violent extremists who have already launched multiple attacks on Tesla dealerships. The governor isn’t just making political jabs—he’s effectively greenlighting further destruction.
Over the past several weeks, Tesla locations across the country have been targeted. In Seattle, four Tesla Cybertrucks were set on fire. In Oregon, dealerships have been shot up and hit with Molotov cocktails. In Las Vegas, arsonists used Molotov cocktails and firearms to set Tesla vehicles ablaze, leaving behind graffiti with the word “resist.”

President Donald Trump has made it clear that these attacks will be treated as acts of domestic terrorism. “You do it to Tesla, and you do it to any company, we’re going to catch you, and you’re going to go through hell,” Trump stated on Tuesday.
