It’s starting to look like Vice President Kamala Harris is having a hard time gaining traction in key battleground states.
NBC’s Vaughn Hillyard reported Wednesday that in Arizona’s Mohave County, which leans heavily Republican, not one early voter his team spoke to admitted they were voting for Harris. Think about that for a second—not one. Now, this isn’t just anecdotal. It’s part of a broader trend showing Republicans, particularly Trump supporters, taking early voting seriously this year, while Democrats—who had the edge in 2020—are struggling to match the energy.
Republican voters are returning their ballots early at a two-to-one margin over Democrats in Arizona, Hillyard said, which is a major shift compared to 2020. Back then, Democrats outpaced Republicans in early voting.
But this time, it’s a different story. Trump supporters are making a “special effort,” as one voter, Jim Coddington, put it, to vote early—no surprise given Trump’s constant push for his base to make their voices heard early and often.
MSNBC stunned when they can’t find a single early voter at AZ polling location who said they voted for Kamala Harris.

One voter, Shelley Schwarz, mentioned that she voted early for the first time ever because Trump has been urging people to do so. And it’s working. You’ve got voters showing up in droves, many of them motivated by what they see as the country’s declining state under the Biden-Harris administration.
Another voter even said he skipped the 2020 election but felt compelled to vote this time because he’s “horrified” by the current state of the country.
To make things even more interesting, Hillyard reported that three voters he interviewed had recently moved to Arizona from blue states, specifically to vote for Trump. This tells you a lot about the shifting political landscape, especially in Arizona, where the margins are razor-thin.
Trump is currently ahead in the state, 49% to 47%, and while Biden narrowly won Arizona in 2020, that advantage seems to be slipping.
