Palm Beach International Airport is now officially President Donald J. Trump International Airport. This name change took effect on July 9, 2026. It marks a bold step for our state. The airport code will soon shift from PBI to DJT. This honors a leader who put Florida first. You can expect to see these initials on your boarding pass by August 18.
First Flight Lands at New Home
The Trump Organization made history with the first landing. Trump Force One, a Boeing 757 owned by the family, touched down shortly after 5:01 a.m. Eric Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Rep. Byron Donalds were on board. They celebrated this moment right on the tarmac. Eric Trump told the crowd, “There is no person who has done more for Florida and our country, and no one more deserving of this incredible honor.” He added, “As a son, and someone who flies out of this airport nearly every day, I will forever be proud to see the initials ‘DJT’ on my boarding pass.”
This renaming was not an accident. The Republican-controlled Florida legislature passed the law in February. Gov. Ron DeSantis signed it into law to make it happen. Per The New York Post, the change cost an estimated $5.5 million. That money pays for new signs and branding updates. A road leading to Trump’s estate was also renamed Donald J. Trump Boulevard.

Some critics might worry about the cost or the change. But this is a tribute to a man who served us well. President Donald Trump shared his excitement on Truth Social. He wrote, “This will soon be one of the Greatest and Most Spectacular Airports anywhere in the World!” The airport assures travelers that service remains the same. They are committed to serving all passengers with care.
We should be proud of this recognition. It shows that Florida values its own. While a bridge in Tennessee also got a new name, this airport change is special. It sits right in the heart of our community. The Washington Times reported that this move solidifies his legacy in the Sunshine State.
