Imagine sitting at a dinner table where the food is great, but the host just lost their temper over empty chairs. That is the scene Mary Peltola allegedly created after an October 2024 event honoring black soldiers. She spent $8,000 on tables that never filled up, and according to a New York Post report, she blamed a black Army veteran named Ed Wesley. A former staffer told the outlet that Peltola allegedly exploded and used a vile racial slur against him.
The story gets worse before it gets better for the Alaska Democrat. The same report says she called Wesley a “scammer” and has a history of angry outbursts. The race could decide who controls the Senate, making every detail matter to you and your family.
While Peltola fights these personal allegations, the state is dealing with a bizarre legal mess. Federal agents are now asking donors if they were tricked into voting for the wrong Dan Sullivan. Yes, there are two candidates with that name on the ballot. One is the Republican senator. The other is a retired teacher named Daniel J. Sullivan Jr.
The FBI has visited donors in remote towns like Petersburg to ask if they felt “misled.” One donor, Charles Flint, gave $500 to the teacher’s campaign. He told the Associated Press that he knew exactly who he was supporting. He said the FBI agent asked his son if Flint felt he had been “misled” about which candidate he was backing. Flint replied, “I don’t feel like I’ve been misled at all.”
President Donald Trump has called this situation “voter fraud at the highest level.” He even suggested the teacher candidate might be hiding because he knows he is guilty. The Department of Justice filed a lawsuit to stop the state from counting votes. They want the judge to separate ballots for the teacher from the senator.
Alaska officials pushed back hard. The court was informed that there is no justification for continuing to hear this baseless legal action. They argued that separating the votes is “both disturbing and impossible” without breaking voter privacy laws. The state says the ballot clearly lists the party for each man to prevent confusion.
Peltola’s team denies the slur allegations completely. A representative speaking to the New York Post stated the narrative forms part of a smear campaign orchestrated by a volatile, dissatisfied ex-employee who had been dismissed. They maintain that Mary would never employ this vile slur, a term carrying a painful and hateful history.
Conservative voices are not buying the excuse. During a broadcast on Fox News, Mark Levin characterized the entire Decoy Dan plot as an attempt to deprive American citizens of their United States Senate. He said Democrats tried to create a “phony ballot” to fool voters. Whether the slur happened or not, the campaign is now mired in a federal probe that questions the integrity of the entire election.
