Florida Congressman Cory Mills (R-FL) has flown to Israel overnight to assist in the evacuation of American citizens as Hamas continues its deadly terrorist attack on the country. Mills, a first-term congressman and Army veteran, has already helped 32 Americans leave the war-torn nation but states that there are still hundreds of Americans who remain “trapped” and in need of evacuation.
Mills, who co-founded a private security company and has experience as a defense contractor, felt compelled to show “solidarity with our Israeli brethren” and offer aid to those in need. His swift actions speak to his dedication to protecting American citizens and his willingness to lend a hand in times of crisis.
Mills is not the only congressman taking action in response to the ongoing attack. Fellow Florida representative Brian Mast told The Floridian that Mills had informed members of the delegation of his plans to travel to Israel in order to assist with the evacuation efforts. It is estimated that 22 Americans have been killed by Hamas terrorists since the attack began on Saturday, according to a statement from the U.S. State Department.
Former Texas Representative Mayra Flores took to social media to applaud Mills’ efforts and to share a photo of him with a group of American citizens still in Israel. “My friend, Florida Representative Cory Mills, is currently on the ground in Israel, helping to evacuate American citizens who are trapped in Israel,” Flores wrote. “May God keep them safe as they continue their rescue efforts!”

As the death toll in Israel continues to rise, Hamas has also taken at least 150 hostages into the Gaza Strip, where they have threatened to execute them and film the killings. In response, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are preparing a ground operation to rescue the hostages. In addition, U.S. special forces are reported to be aiding the IDF in a possible rescue mission.
The situation in Israel has been described as a “massacre” by IDF Major General Itai Veruv, who shared that he has witnessed innocent civilians, including women and children, being killed by Hamas terrorists in their own homes. He compared the brutal attacks to historic atrocities, stating, “It’s something we used to imagine from our grandmothers, grandfathers in pogroms in Europe and other places.”
Mills’ dedication to helping those in need during this crisis reflects a common sentiment among Americans, who stand in solidarity with Israel and are united in their support for the country’s right to defend itself against these acts of terror.
