Senator Comments On Economic Proposal

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) didn’t hold back this week as he took aim at Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris’ latest economic agenda, which includes implementing price controls. During an episode of his “Verdict” podcast, Cruz blasted Harris’ proposal, warning that it closely mirrors failed “Soviet-style” policies that history has shown to be disastrous.

Cruz opened the discussion with his co-host, Ben Ferguson, by sarcastically referring to Harris as “Queen Kamala” and criticized her plan for the federal government to set prices on essential goods like groceries. He drew a parallel to the Soviet Union’s approach to controlling prices, emphasizing that such methods have a track record of failure.

“The federal government is now going to be in the business that the Soviet Union, their government, was in for a long time, deciding the prices of goods the people need and want,” Cruz said. He added that history has proven these kinds of policies to be catastrophic.

According to Cruz, the root of the inflation problem over the past few years lies in the Biden-Harris administration’s massive spending and their “war on energy.” He argued that the Democrats have flooded the economy with too much money, leading to higher prices across the board.

Additionally, Cruz pointed out that the administration’s policies targeting the oil and gas industry have driven up the cost of energy, which in turn makes everything more expensive, especially food.

Cruz broke down how the cost of food is directly impacted by the price of energy. Fertilizer, a critical component in agriculture, relies heavily on natural gas, and the costs of transportation are tied to diesel prices. By targeting the oil and gas sector, Cruz argued, Harris has inadvertently caused a significant spike in food prices, further straining American families.

As the election looms, Cruz suggested that Harris is in a political bind. The policies she has championed have, in his view, harmed millions of Americans, and admitting this would be politically damaging.

Instead, Cruz said, Harris is doubling down on a flawed solution: government-imposed price controls. He warned that this approach is a “train wreck” and would inflict even more harm on the American people.
