The Washington Examiner reported that Trump described a “great” meeting with actor Jon Voight. Voight, who has served as a 2024 campaign surrogate, is now referred to as his “Hollywood ambassador.” Trump noted that Voight and other industry figures are advocating for these federal tax breaks. The President asserted that the sector is ceding ground to Canada and other nations, arguing that fresh incentives could return work to California.
Trump wrote that Voight despises the current state of Hollywood. He attributed the sentiment to Voight, stating, “Hollywood is a Complete and Total Disaster!” The President observed that there is currently no motivation to remain in the region. He contended that the funds allocated for tax breaks would be recovered “tenfold by the money pouring into” the Treasury, a claim made by the President himself.
Senator Adam Schiff, a California Democrat, expressed agreement with Trump on this specific issue. Writing on X, Schiff stated that Congress should approve a federal film tax incentive to restore high-paying jobs. He pointed out that approximately 45 percent of all U.S. films are now filmed overseas. Schiff noted this represents a 12 percent increase since 2022.
