Biden Comments On Deficit During Speech

Washington D.C. – President Joe Biden was met with a heckler during his speech at Union Station on Tuesday. The president, who was addressing the issue of the care economy, was interrupted by a protester who caught him off guard. Biden responded angrily, telling the heckler to either “make a speech or shush up.” However, upon closer examination, the president seemed to have had a change of heart, possibly due to the confrontational appearance of the protesters. He backtracked and joked that the heckler looked like he “could take me.”

But it was a brief moment of levity in an otherwise bizarre and confusing speech. At one point, Biden shouted what sounded like “ASKME!” which was later clarified by the White House transcript as “AFSCME” – referring to the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. While it was possible that the president was giving them a shout-out, it was still a perplexing and unexpected moment.

As the speech proceeded, Biden went on to make several outlandish claims, including boasting that he had shaved one trillion dollars off the deficit during his tenure. Even a well-known leftist fact-checking outlet found this statement to be false. According to Politifact, the deficit had actually declined by $1.4 trillion on Biden’s watch, but this was largely due to the government’s response to the pandemic. When taking into account the entire term, the deficit had still grown, though at a slower rate compared to the previous administration.

Despite these claims, Biden continued to tout his record as a tax cutter, which has been a subject of dispute. However, his proposed budget for 2025 has been criticized for targeting small businesses and families, leading to job losses, higher prices, and potentially giving China an edge in competitiveness. House Ways and Means Chairman, Jason Smith, called the president’s proposed $7 trillion tax increase “massive” and warned that it would impact workers, small business owners, seniors, and family farms and ranches.

In addition to these claims, Biden also boasted about his extensive travels as a U.S. Senator, claiming to have commuted over a million miles via Amtrak trains. This would equate to approximately 4,546 trips, which RNC Research pointed out is equivalent to traveling to the moon and back – twice. However, it is worth noting that Biden did log over 1.2 million miles on Air Force planes during his time as vice president.

It is becoming increasingly common for the president to make exaggerated or misleading statements during his speeches, with little regard for the truth. This, coupled with his tendency to get flustered and confused when faced with unexpected moments, continues to raise concerns about his suitability for the office. As his presidency progresses, it remains to be seen how these issues will impact his ability to effectively lead the country. For now, the American public can only hope for more consistency and accuracy from their leader in the future.
