Biden Gives Speech In Philly Then Heads To Wawa

The race for Pennsylvania is heating up, as both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump have recently made four campaign stops in the state within the last five days. With more than six months until Election Day, there are still a lot of uncertainties, challenges, and hurdles that the candidates have to face.

During his recent visit to Philadelphia, Biden received an endorsement from several members of the Kennedy family at the Martin Luther King Jr. Rec Center in North Philadelphia. Kerry Kennedy, daughter of the late Robert Kennedy, spoke about how Biden embodies the values that her father and President John F. Kennedy envisioned, including decency, democracy, and human rights. However, Biden’s potential challenger, Robert Kennedy Jr., who is running as an independent, adds a big question mark to the race.

Meanwhile, Trump, who visited the Lehigh Valley last weekend, is facing a slew of legal issues. Both candidates are also facing serious voter fatigue, as many people are expressing displeasure and disappointment with their choices. Lauren Cristella from the Committee of Seventy, a non-profit organization, stated that there is a lot of frustration among voters, with some even saying they can’t believe they have to go through another election cycle.

The primary season has also demonstrated the impact of Biden’s handling of the conflict in Gaza at the polls. In states such as Minnesota and Michigan, a significant percentage of Democratic voters cast their ballots for “uncommitted.” Protesters also followed Biden to North Philadelphia, expressing their disapproval of his actions. Cristella predicts that this dissatisfaction may manifest in the general election through write-in votes or not voting at all.

However, during Biden’s visit to the state this week, he focused on his proposed policies for the economy and higher taxes for the wealthy. He also addressed Trump’s approach on the economy, stating that his opponent wants across-the-board tariffs on all imports, which may harm American consumers. In contrast, Biden promised strategic and targeted actions to protect American workers and ensure fair competition. He also pledged to push for tripling tariffs on Chinese steel and aluminum imports.

Biden’s recent visits to the Philadelphia area and surrounding Delaware Valley mark the fourth time he has traveled to the region this year alone. With Pennsylvania being a key battleground for both candidates, Biden and his Democratic opponent are widely expected to win their respective primary races on April 23. Biden has also committed significant time and resources to the state, highlighting issues such as the Capitol insurrection, small businesses, and his plans for a second term.

In January, Biden visited Montgomery County Community College in Blue Bell to commemorate the third anniversary of the Capitol insurrection. A week later, he traveled to the Lehigh Valley to promote the importance of small businesses and his economic record. In March, he made a campaign-style speech at Strath Haven Middle School in Delaware County, where he made promises to protect reproductive rights, ban assault rifles, and reiterate his accomplishments during his first term.
