Late last week, Former President Donald Trump issued an official response to being indicted by a grand jury in Manhattan by claiming that the case was an example of express election interference and political persecution.
The New York Times issued a report that the felony-level indictment over his alleged hush money payment, to the tune of $130,000, to porn actress Stormy Daniels had been filed under seal by the Manhattan district attorney’s office.
This indictment is slated to be carried out over soon and Trump will be compelled to surrender and face arraignment, as explained in a recent report. The former president has now secured his place in history as the first former president in U.S. history to ever face criminal charges.
“This is Political Persecution and Election Interference at the highest level in history,” stated Trump. “From the time I came down the golden escalator at Trump Tower, and even before I was sworn in as your President of the United States, the Radical Left Democrats — the enemy of the hard-working men and women of this Country — have been engaged in a Witch-Hunt to destroy the Make America Great Again movement.”
A few examples of political persecution which were mentioned by Trump in his release were the ongoing investigations into alleged campaign ties to Russia and his first impeachment.
“The Democrats have lied, cheated and stolen in their obsession with trying to ‘Get Trump,’ but now they’ve done the unthinkable – indicting a completely innocent person in an act of blatant Election Interference,” stated Trump. “Never before in our Nation’s history has this been done.”
Trump made the claim that Democrats “have cheated countless times over the decades” and that they have taken actions that resulted in the weaponization of law enforcement agencies to solely target him.
“Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, who was hand-picked and funded by George Soros, is a disgrace,” stated Trump. “Rather than stopping the unprecedented crime wave taking over New York City, he’s doing Joe Biden’s dirty work, ignoring the murders and burglaries and assaults he should be focused on. This is how Bragg spends his time!”
Trump has stated that he thinks that “this Witch-Hunt” will only end up hurting the Democrats.
The lead prosecutors for the case recently met with the grand jury late last week and read out ot them the criminal statutes prior to their vote. A scant few hours later, the same prosecutors marched into the court clerk’s office and began filing the indictment.
