As concerns about President Joe Biden’s age and cognitive capabilities continue to grow, Democrats are scrambling to find a way to reassure the American public. Despite multiple polls showing widespread unease about Biden’s ability to lead effectively, the Left is now attempting to downplay these fears by equating the President’s mental lapses with those of his predecessor, Donald Trump.
The tactic, which many have deemed as a desperate attempt to divert attention from Biden’s decline, has been met with backlash and ridicule from both sides of the political spectrum. While it is true that Trump, who is also in his late 70s, has made his fair share of verbal gaffes, the stark contrast between his mental acuity and Biden’s has become increasingly evident.

The former President’s allies have been quick to point out that, although he may occasionally misspeak in public, he has never shown the sort of confusion and forgetfulness that have become hallmarks of Biden’s speeches and press conferences. While Trump may have been known for his off-the-cuff remarks and brash rhetoric, he has never displayed the kind of cognitive decline that has become synonymous with Biden’s presidency.
The key issue for Democrats, however, is not how they can spin the comparison between the two leaders but how to address the growing concerns about Biden’s cognitive state. Despite repeated attempts to deflect and gaslight the American public, it seems that the more the President is in the public eye, the more pronounced his mental lapses become.
Questions about Biden’s age and fitness for office have dogged him throughout his political career, and it appears that these concerns are not going away anytime soon. Even some on the Left, who have been staunch supporters of the President, are becoming increasingly worried about his ability to lead the nation.
If we’re going to talk about a presidential candidate’s age and mental competency, his trouble even forming basic sentences, then let’s do it. But Biden isn’t the guy we’re talking about here.

With the next presidential election still several years away, it remains to be seen how these concerns will impact Biden’s approval ratings and his party’s chances at the polls. One thing is for sure, however – the tactic of equating Trump’s gaffes with Biden’s cognitive decline is not likely to be an effective long-term strategy for Democrats.
Until they can address the issues head-on and provide concrete evidence that the President is still fit for office, they will continue to face an uphill battle in convincing the public that Biden is the right man for the job. As for Trump, despite his vocal supporters, his time in the White House is over, and it is time for the nation to move forward and address the issues at hand.
