Former Governor Issues Threat Against Trump For Primary Race

Chris Christie, Former New Jersey Governor, spoke out to a gathered audience this past Monday to state that he has thought of entering the 2024 presidential race solely in order to torpedo the chances of former President Donald Trump.

Christie issued these statements as he spoke at an event in New Hampshire for St. Anselm’s College. Christie campaigned out in New Hampshire more than any other GOP candidate from 2016 and ended up being entirely blown out there., which lead him to fully suspend his entire campaign.

“You better have somebody on that stage who can do to him what I did to Marco because that’s the only thing that’s gonna defeat Donald Trump,” stated Christie in a reference to his attempts to go after Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) so wholeheartedly during the debates. “And that means you gotta have the skill to do it and that means you have to be fearless because he will come back and right at you.”

Christie stated that “it’s not gonna end nicely” and that Trump’s “end will not be a calm and quiet conclusion.”

“And so, if I run again, I can’t imagine that I would continue to do it the same way,” he went on to add. “But this time if I run, I would just hope that you come to a better conclusion than you did the last time.”

Mediaite has recently reported that the remarks from Christie “elicited laughs from the crowd.”

Both Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the former President currently hold top spotsin most of the polls regarding the 2024 Republican nomination, even though the latter has technically not announced a campaign as of writing.

Christie explained to Fox News that he wanted to head over to New Hampshire in order to speak to people “who I know are the best-informed voters in the country about things that I think are important in the world and in our country right now — and to see how they react to that, and see that what they think about things that I think are important.”

Christie explained that he has not yet spoken publically about any plans to join the race, but went on to conclude that he has “had a lot of interesting conversations with donors over the course of the last few weeks.”
