At a House Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday, Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff made a fiery speech in an attempt to impugn Special Counsel John Durham, the federal prosecutor tasked with investigating the FBI’s handling of the “Russian collusion” inquiry that was launched against President Trump’s campaign in 2016.
During his testimony, Schiff went after Durham and his inquiry, accusing the prosecutor of being an agent of the White House and claiming the investigation was biased. He also accused Durham of lacking objectivity and called into question the Special Counsel’s integrity.
However, Schiff’s diatribe backfired spectacularly when Durham responded to Schiff‘s accusations by calmly explaining the facts. During his opening statement, Durham revealed that the FBI had made “significant mistakes” and was suffering from a “lack of candor” and “inaccurate” information.
This caused Schiff to become flustered and frustrated, leading Republican congressman Doug Collins to remark “…you’re trying to bully the witness here and it’s just not going your way.” In an effort to save face, Schiff then called on Democratic Congressman Steve Cohen to launch another attack against Durham.
It was met with the same result; Cohen was unable to lay a glove on Durham, and ultimately Cohen was made to look foolish by the Special Counsel.
The hearing stands as further evidence of the Democrats’ agenda to muddy the waters and undermine the inquiry into the FBI’s “Russian collusion” investigation, which has been derided by President Trump as a “witch hunt.”
It also serves as another example of why Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff was removed from the House Intelligence Committee earlier this year by then–House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. For the past two years, Schiff has consistently lied to the American people about “Russian collusion” being “hidden in plain sight”, and the fact that he was called out in official testimony was validation of McCarthy’s decision.
In the end, this hearing further exposed the Democrats’ agenda and the truth behind Special Counsel John Durham’s inquiry. Moreover, it was a stark reminder of why Democrats like Adam Schiff are no longer taken seriously by the American people.
