House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is still in Congress, but her influence is waning since the 2022 midterm elections. Last week, she tried to give Joe Biden some cover for his incoherent interviews in an attempt to put questions of his age to rest, saying that at 83, she was older than he was. But her struggle to explain herself showed just how much age is a factor for her, as it is for Biden.
On Sunday, Pelosi went on CNN with Dana Bash, and had an uncomfortable exchange as Bash asked her a simple question about the IRS whistleblowers who were so damning about the bias shown in the case against Hunter Biden. “Are you confident that politics did not play a role here?” Bash asked Pelosi.
Rather than address the question, Pelosi lashed out, calling the question a “ridiculous clown show.” She then went on to talk about a completely different hearing that had nothing to do with the IRS whistleblowers – the House Weaponization Committee hearing on censorship, where another Biden scandal was discussed. But she obviously couldn’t keep her Biden administration scandals straight, as she even called the main witness, Joe Kennedy, a name that hasn’t been used in the family since 1969.
When asked why the American people aren’t buying the Democrats’ message that Joe Biden is great and that six in ten don’t approve of his handling of the economy, Pelosi said it was just a messaging issue. But the problem is that the more people see of Joe Biden, the more people believe that he shouldn’t be running again and/or that he’s unfit.
This isn’t the first time that Pelosi has stumbled on hard questions. Time and time again, she has shown her age and proved that neither she nor the President are cut out for their offices in the way that they should be. It’s clear that the Democrats need a new voice for their message, and soon, as Nancy Pelosi is showing that the age gap between herself and Biden is far too large to be disregarded.
