Report Gives Analysis After Biden’s SOTU

A recent survey conducted by HarrisX in the days following President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address has found that former President Donald Trump currently leads the incumbent in the 2024 race for the White House.

The survey, conducted from March 8th to the 10th, interviewed 2,017 registered voters and found that 45% of respondents indicated they plan to vote for Trump, while 41% expect to back Biden. However, 13% of respondents said they were still undecided.

The survey also revealed that Trump continues to hold a lead over Biden when other independent and third-party candidates are included as options. His lead marginally increased, garnering support from 41% of registered voters compared to Biden’s 35%. These results come at a time when both Biden and Trump have secured enough delegates to confirm their positions as the Democrat and Republican Party nominees.

The findings of the HarrisX survey also showed a significant level of dissatisfaction with President Biden’s presidency. Only 37% of respondents approved of his presidency, with 58% indicating disapproval. These results closely align with the aggregation of multiple surveys, which found that as of March 13th, 38% of respondents approved of Biden’s presidency, while 56% disapproved.

The survey also delved into public opinion surrounding Biden’s State of the Union address. The survey found that a staggering 57% of respondents were concerned about the president’s age, and 54% expressed concerns about his fitness for office after the speech.

Additionally, 59% said that the speech did not adequately address the issue of immigration, which has been a hot topic in recent months following the murder of a 22-year-old woman by an illegal immigrant.

The controversy surrounding Biden’s response to the killing has further divided opinions, with 61% of respondents stating that his speech did not do enough to address the issue of immigration. The incident occurred when Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) shouted the name of the victim during the president’s speech. Biden responded by mispronouncing the victim’s name and stating that she was killed by “an illegal.”

The contentious issue of immigration has been a major focus of the Biden presidency, with officials recording a record number of encounters and estimated “gotaways” at the southern border since he took office. The HarrisX survey also found that 59% of respondents believed that Biden’s speech had further divided the country, with only 41% stating that it helped unify Americans.

Overall, the HarrisX survey presents some potential concerns for the Biden administration, with low approval ratings, concerns about his age and fitness for office, and a perceived lack of action on important issues such as immigration.

These findings highlight the ongoing political divide within the United States and the challenges faced by the current administration in addressing these issues. It is important to note, however, that the survey has a margin of error of 2.2%, and the results may not be entirely representative of the entire population.
