Leave it to The View to serve up another outrageous moment, courtesy of none other than Sunny Hostin. If you’re familiar with the cast, you won’t be shocked to hear that Hostin took the low road in a recent episode, this time targeting Brittany Mahomes. The absurd rant came during the “Hot Topics” segment, and even though Whoopi Goldberg initially tried to steer clear of the mess, Hostin plowed ahead, going on the attack based on nothing more than the fact that Mahomes supposedly liked a Trump post on social media.
Here’s what Hostin said:
“It just seems to me since she is in an interracial marriage, she should have known that to support a racist is problematic. Her children are biracial, and her family is one of the families that in the 70s could not have lived in any of Donald Trump’s buildings.”
Right off the bat, Hostin’s comments are inflammatory, to say the least. First, she’s making wild assumptions about Brittany Mahomes’ political beliefs based on a single social media like. And then, she tries to drive a wedge into Mahomes’ marriage by dragging race into it, claiming that supporting Trump is somehow at odds with being in an interracial relationship. This is classic Hostin—leaping to conclusions, demonizing anyone who doesn’t align with her worldview, and playing fast and loose with facts.
This woman just said some pretty unthinkable stuff. Brittany Mahomes and her husband should DEMAND a retraction and apology. pic.twitter.com/4ESNZYnzax

Alyssa Farah, the show’s resident “conservative,” didn’t do much to help the situation either. Rather than pushing back or offering some much-needed sanity to the conversation, she mumbled a half-hearted defense, suggesting they don’t really know if Mahomes supports Trump. This was an opportunity for Farah to step up and point out how ridiculous it is to attack someone’s marriage or character over an inferred political stance, but she completely missed the mark.
The real issue here is Hostin. Who is she to pass judgment on Brittany Mahomes or her marriage to Patrick Mahomes? From all accounts, the Mahomes have a strong, healthy relationship, and it’s frankly appalling to see someone like Hostin trying to insert discord where there is none. Liking a Trump post doesn’t make someone a racist, nor does it make their marriage “problematic,” as Hostin so recklessly put it.
Moreover, Hostin’s claim that Patrick and Brittany Mahomes wouldn’t have been allowed to live in one of Trump’s buildings in the 1970s is based on highly questionable grounds. The accusation stems from a decades-old DOJ lawsuit that resulted in a consent decree with no admission of guilt. And let’s not forget, Donald Trump didn’t even own those buildings at the time. But of course, Hostin conveniently leaves out these important details in her rush to paint Trump, and anyone associated with him, as irredeemably racist.
Hostin’s obsession with identity politics and her eagerness to demonize people who don’t fit her narrative is nothing new. Whether it’s making wild claims about athletes like Caitlin Clark or excusing anti-Semitic harassment on college campuses, she’s proven time and again that she’s more interested in pushing divisive rhetoric than having meaningful discussions. Her outburst here is just the latest in a long line of hateful, baseless tirades.
And here’s where ABC News, the network behind The View, comes into play. This kind of toxic commentary isn’t just offensive—it’s dangerous. When a platform like The View allows hosts to spout off with hateful accusations and misleading information, it reflects poorly on the network as a whole. Brittany Mahomes and her family deserve an apology, and ABC News needs to take a hard look at what kind of discourse it’s fostering. It’s one thing to have spirited political debate, but it’s something else entirely to smear someone’s character and marriage on national television based on nothing more than political paranoia.
