Trump Challenges Biden, Calls Out Memory of 9/11 As A False Memory

Former President Donald Trump has taken aim at what he views as a series of false claims from President Joe Biden of which the latest, according to Trump, is a false memory about 9/11.

In an interview with NBC’s Meet the Press host Kristen Welker, Trump said, “Look at all the lies he’s told over the past couple of weeks. He said he was at the World Trade Center, and he wasn’t… He said he flew airplanes. He didn’t. He said he drove trucks, and he didn’t. Everything he says is like a lie. It’s terrible.”

On the same show, Trump challenged Biden’s claim of having a golf handicap of six, claiming it’s “not a six.”

Biden has made a number of questionable statements in recent weeks, including that he was at Ground Zero the morning after 9/11, which is not supported by the available evidence. Photos taken in Manhattan do show Trump visiting the site days after the terrorist attack, however.

When questioned about the mishandling of Biden’s claims at last week’s White House press briefing, National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby avoided the question and sidestepped comments.

In response to the incident, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy activated an impeachment inquiry into the president’s behavior. Notably, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre walked out of her press briefing when a reporter asked her to comment on a poll showing that 61% of Americans believe Biden had lied about his involvement in his son, Hunter’s, business.

When asked to comment on his mugshot photo, Trump told Welker he saw “somebody that loves this country in me. That loves this country.” He then went on to add, “I think very few people would have been able to handle what I handled.”

The former President pushed back against the latest accusation, which is that he asked a staffer to delete security camera footage to keep it out of the hands of investigators, calling it “a fake charge by this deranged lunatic prosecutor who lost in the Supreme Court 9 to nothing, and he tried to destroy lots of lives. He’s a lunatic, so it’s a fake charge, but, more importantly, the tapes weren’t deleted. In other words, there was nothing done to them. And, they were my tapes.” Trump unequivocally agreed he would testify to that under oath.

It remains to be seen how President Biden will respond to Trump’s attack. However, the president’s stance on his own integrity is absolute, with a White House spokesperson recently reiterating, “The president was deeply touched and honored to be able to spend 9/11 with military members there in Alaska […] and he’s focused on making sure that an attack like that never happens again.”
