This past Tuesday, former President Donald Trump alleged that the judge overseeing his New York criminal case will only end up being heavily biased due to the judge’s family ties.
Prior to his arraignment taking place in Manhattan, Trump took aim at the daughter of New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan, Loren Merchan, whose firm is known to have carried out work for the campaigns of numerous other Democrats, including both Vice President Kamala Harris and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA).
“HIS DAUGHTER WORKED FOR ‘KAMALA’ & NOW THE BIDEN-HARRIS CAMPAIGN. KANGAROO COURT!!!” stated Trump in a post made to his own social media platform, Truth Social. He also made the claim that the family of the judge is entirely full of “TRUMP HATERS” and sounded the call for the case to be shifted out to another court on Staten Island.
Donald Trump Jr., the son of former president Trump, highlighted a Breitbart News article that identified Loren Merchan as the daughter of Justice Juan Merchan and went over work history. The report features a picture connected to the Flickr account of the Geneseo Alumni Office which showed Loren Mercan with her father, posting next to each other.

That particular post and another from Eric, another of Trump’s children, called for a rebuke from Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler.
“Both Trump sons have now posted photos of the judge’s adult daughter. Totally irrelevant — and obviously intended to intimidate,” he stated in a tweet.

Miranda Devine, a columnist for the New York Post, took their own jab as Kessler.
“This is the ‘fact checker’ for the Washington Post, deliberately misleading his readers. Neither Trump posted photos of the judge’s daughter. They posted a *link* to an article stating she had worked for Kamala Harris and Joe Biden. Also the judge is a Biden donor. Relevant facts,” she stated.

While all known social media accounts allegedly being connected with Loren Merchan seemingly having been scrubbed clean, there are a number of clues regarding Merchan’s work history that can be discovered in the corners of the internet. Most famous;y, she reportedly worked as president of Authentic Campaigns, a political digital communications firm, in 2020. She is also listed as a partner.
Back in October 2020, the Twitter account from Authentic proudly highlighted the news that Merchan was marked as a “Rising Start” in the magazine Campaigns & Elections. The post shared a Twitter handle with Merchan’s first name that now seems to be deactivated.
What never did end up getting taken down is a brief biography that Campaigns & Elections posted about Merchan, which lists some of her firm’s high-profile clients.
“Throughout her career, Loren has fought hard to get results. Not just for her clients but for the industry as a whole and the people who work in it,” the blurb stated. “Her work is setting new benchmarks and winning elections.”
