WATCH: Massive Caravan Illegally Crosses Border Into El Paso Under Cover Of Darkness

This past Sunday night, a giant caravan of well over 1,000 migrants chose to illegally cross the southern border of the United States into the El Paso area of Texas.

Video clips of the event were posted to social media by Bill Melugin, a correspondent for Fox News, which showed the group quickly wading through the waters of the Rio Grande River from Mexico.

“A huge migrant caravan of over 1,000 people crossed illegally into El Paso, TX last night, making it the largest single group we have ever seen,” explained Melugin in a tweet this past Monday morning. “The city of El Paso reports Border Patrol now has over 5,000 in custody & has released hundreds to city streets.”

As explained by Melugin, the group of migrants could be traced back to a long train of buses that just recently made the trip up to Ciudad Juarez, a city in Mexico sitting along the river just south of El Paso.

“Before this mass of migrants crossed, Mexican police escorted nearly 20 buses full of migrants into Ciudad Juarez, the MX city across from El Paso, and released them at multiple NGOs [Non-Governmental Organizations]. The migrants then walked from the NGOs to the river, & crossed illegally into El Paso,” he stated this past Sunday.

It was reported by El Paso Matters that the group of illegal migrants were members of a massive caravan that had stopped in Chihuahua, Mexico, on Thursday, a little over 200 miles from the border between the U.S. and Mexico, before being allowed to push further.

“The migratory flow cannot be opened, and there is no support for migrants in Ciudad Juárez. This affects the people of Juárez,” exclaimed Chihuahua Gov. Maru Campos to the news outlet.

“Right now, between 1,200 to 1,500 migrants are coming through Jimenez in the south of the state, guarded by the federal government. There is no more space in the shelters. If they arrive in Ciudad Juárez, we will look out for them. But we are urgently calling on the federal government for help,” stated Campos.

This worrying number of illegal migrants recently flooding into El Paso comes as many sound the alarm that the number of unlawful crossings is only going to get much worse. Title 42, a policy from the Trump era that lets agents have the power to turn back migrants because of worries about COVID concerns, is slated to officially expire on the 21st of December.

A group of fifteen state attorneys general have called on a federal judge to keep the program alive.

“Because invalidation of the Title 42 Orders will directly harm the States, they now seek to intervene to offer a defense of the Title 42 policy so that its validity can be resolved on the merits, rather than through strategic surrender,” the court filing stated.

“[B]order states like Arizona and Texas will face increased migrant flows and increased releases of aliens if the Title 42 process is terminated. Those aliens will flow to other States, too,” it went on.

Back in May, Alejandro Mayorkas, the Homeland Security Secretary, openly admitted that the end of Title 42 could result in almost 18,000 migrants flooding across the border per day. If so, the U.S. could see well over a half-million illegal immigrants per month rushing into the country.
