House Hearing Gets Intense During Questioning

On Wednesday, Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez attended the House Oversight Committee meeting to question Hunter Biden’s former business partner, Tony Bobulinski. The hearing focused on Bobulinski’s allegations against President Joe Biden, where he maintained that Biden knew about his son’s business dealings with Chinese energy firm, CEFC.

During the hearing, Ocasio-Cortez asked Bobulinski if he personally witnessed President Joe Biden committing a crime. Bobulinski responded affirmatively, stating that Biden was sitting with him while he was putting a deal together. However, when pressed by Ocasio-Cortez to specify the crime, Bobulinski mentioned the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), and “corruption statutes.”

Unsatisfied with Bobulinski’s response, Ocasio-Cortez called out Republicans for initiating an impeachment inquiry based on these allegations. She argued that they do not accuse the president of a specific “high crime or misdemeanor” and pointed out that the FBI has since arrested the source who made the initial allegations on charges of making false statements and creating false records.

Ocasio-Cortez also slammed the committee for proceeding with the inquiry despite being warned by Trump’s Secretary of State Mike Pompeo of the falsehoods surrounding the allegations. She argued that this showed irresponsible leadership and called for the withdrawal of the inquiry.

Bobulinski’s allegations against the Biden family date back to 2017 when he and four other businessmen, including Hunter Biden, formed the shell company Oneida Holdings to conduct business with CEFC. In February, Bobulinski went public with claims that the Chinese government tried to “infiltrate and compromise” the Bidens and the Obama White House. He further alleged that President Biden “enabled” a profitable deal between his son and the Chinese Communist Party-linked energy company.

However, during a closed-door deposition in February, Hunter Biden denied involving his father in any of his business dealings. In his opening remarks, he stated, “I did not involve my father in my business, not while I was a practicing lawyer, not in my investments or transactions, domestic or international, not as a board member, and not as an artist, never.”

Despite Hunter’s denial, Bobulinski maintained that the Biden family “aggressively leveraged” their family name to facilitate their business deals. He also claimed that in 2022, the Bidens attempted to defraud him.

This hearing is the latest development in the ongoing saga surrounding the Bidens’ business dealings in China and Ukraine. President Biden has consistently denied any involvement or wrongdoing in these matters.

The Republican-led House Oversight Committee will continue to investigate these allegations and determine if there is enough evidence to move forward with an impeachment inquiry. However, it remains to be seen how the testimony from Bobulinski and other witnesses will impact the committee’s decision.

As the hearing concluded, Ocasio-Cortez and the Democratic members of the committee reiterated their belief that the foundation of the inquiry was flawed and proceeded based on false charges. They called on the committee to withdraw the inquiry and focus on more pressing matters.

Meanwhile, Republican members of the committee stood by their decision to investigate these allegations and continue to push for a thorough investigation to uncover any potential wrongdoing on the part of the Bidens.

The House Oversight Committee will reconvene next week to hear further testimony from key witnesses and continue their investigation into the Biden family’s business dealings. As the situation unfolds, the American public remains divided, with many calling for a fair and unbiased investigation into the allegations against the Biden family.
