Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) expressed during an interview from this past week that literally hundreds of Democrat U.S. lawmakers are worried that Old Sleepy Joe will end up being the party’s nominee in the 2024 presidential race, but they are too scared to actually band together and speak up.
These statements from Phillips were issued in the wake of numerous polls that have found that most Demcorat voters do not wish to see Biden become the party’s nominee once again for a whole host of reasons, such as unfavorable economic conditions, skyrocketing inflation rates, disastrous foreign policy decisions, and the general view among some that he is too old and not mentally fit for office.
“This is not a knock on Joe Biden, just a wish for competition,” explained Phillips to one outlet, The Atlantic. “In the business world, if the dominant brand in a category had favorability ratings like the current president does, you would see a number of established brands jump into that category. Believe me, there are literally hundreds in Congress who would say the same thing. But they simply won’t f***ing say a word.”
The comments also come after Biden has on countless occasions shown his age in recent weeks, including an instance of falling down the stairs of Air Force one while paying a trip to Europe this past month.
This most recent incident of Biden tumbling has taken place just after White House physician Kevin O’Connor made the claim last week that Biden was, in fact, “a healthy, vigorous 80-year-old male who is fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency, to include those as Chief Executive, Head of State and Commander in Chief.”
This tumble from the commander-in-chief takes place just two years after he repeatedly stumbled down as he tried to make his way up the stairs of Air Force One as he was getting ready to head out to Atlanta in order to pay a visit to community leaders in the wake of an incident that was taking place throughout the city.
The incident in March 2021 took place just another few months after he took another fall which ended up breaking a bone in his foot while he was allegedly running after one of his dogs after he stepped out of the shower. Additionally, Biden fell down this past summer while sitting atop one of his bicycles as he was stood stock still on the road in an attempt to speak to a group of gathered members of the press.
