A Philadelphia gunman allegedly went on a rampage Monday night, killing five men and wounding two children in an eight-block shooting spree.
Kimbrady Carriker, 40, was arrested shortly after the massacre and has been identified as the suspect. Carriker is linked to Black Lives Matter and appears to have an interest in guns.
At least four of the victims were shot on the street. Cops state the fifth victim was chased into a home and shot. According to police, Carriker was wearing a bulletproof vest and was armed with a rifle, pistol, extra magazines, and a police scanner.

“You can see there are several scenes out here,” Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said. “We’re canvassing the area to get as much as we can, to identify witnesses, to identify where cameras are located and to do everything to figure out the why.”
Cops have identified the slain victims as Lashyd Merritt, 20, Dymir Stanton, 29, Ralph Moralis, 59, Daujan Brown, 15, and Joseph Wamah Jr., 31. A 2-year-old boy was shot four times in the legs, while a 13-year-old boy also suffered gunshot wounds to his legs.
Carriker had been arrested in 2003 and charged with possession of a weapon without a license, carrying a firearm in public and drug possession. Carriker eventually pleaded guilty to having a firearm without a license and the other charges were dropped. He was placed on three years’ probation and made to pay over $1,000 in costs.
Tina Rosette, Carriker’s old roommate, said she was shocked to learn of his involvement in the shooting, saying she did not know he had a gun. Rosette described Carriker as “really smart, intelligent, creative” and someone who loved computers, but said he had “an aggressive approach to some things in life.”
Carriker’s social media posts show he regularly supports Black Lives Matter, including supporting workers who protested in the Strike For Black Lives in July 2020. He references guns in some of his posts, one showing a person with a pistol with the caption, “Wherefore art thou opposition so I may slide upon thine block and runneth down on thee.”
Carriker had at one point appeared to start his own company, LDS Frameworks, writing software and developing computer games, but it had been inactive since 2019.
The shooting is still under investigation. Police have not yet disclosed a motive.
“It is disgusting, the lack of proper gun legislation we have in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.” @DA_LarryKrasner says after Philadelphia mass shooter used AR-15 rifle to kill 5 males, between ages 15 & 59 years old, and wounded two children, ages 2 & 13 yrs old. pic.twitter.com/1lxbNY6THW
