Unidentified Man Shoots Elderly Activist Raising Awareness For New Abortion Ballot Proposal

One pro-life female activist, aged 84 years old, who was in the area to bring awareness to a new ballot proposal dealing with abortion laws in the state of Michigan, was shot in the back by a still unidentified man this past week while attempting to hand out pamphlets.

The pro-life non-profit group, Right to Life Michigan, stated in a release put forth on Saturday that as the elderly woman was out volunteering her time in efforts to go door-to-door in the area of Lake Odessa, one particular interaction ended up with her wounded after leaving a home after a “heated conversation.”

“The victim does not know the identity or motive of her shooter.” explains the statement. “The victim is still recovering from her gunshot wound and wishes to remain anonymous while the criminal investigation proceeds.”

The state police for Michigan have kicked off an investigation into the case and is expected to send out their results the Ionia County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

On Saturday, authorities explained to Fox News Digital that the older woman was shot in the wake of a “verbal altercation while she was passing out pamphlets” and would go on to drive herself out ot the Lake Odessa Police Department.

She was then taken over to an area hospital for treatment and was subsequently released.

“We’re glad the victim is recovering, and our volunteers will continue knocking doors on Proposal 3,” explained an official with Right to Life of Michigan, Chris Gast, stated to Fox News Digital.

Proposal 3, or as its more commonly known as the so-called “Right to Reproductive Freedeom Initiative,” is attempting to allow the state to regulate abortion after fetal viability but not stop abortion procedure if needed in order to protect the life of the mother or her phsycial or mental health.

Voters out in Michigan are soon going to be able to vote on the measure in the upcoming midterm elections slated for November.

The attack carried out against the elderly woman come in the wake of the monumentous decision from the U.S. Supreme Court this past summer to overturn Roe v. Wade, which was the case that officially made abortion legal across the country.

Abortion enthusiasts and their political supporters have pointed out severely worrying rhetoric towards those who stand for the sanctity of life, which has unleashed a long and severe series of assaults against various pro-life locations and pregnancy centers.
