Whoopi Goldberg Goes After Nikki Haley Using Same Tactic That Put Don Lemon In Trouble

Actress and talk show host Whoopi Goldberg went off on a tangent attacking former Governor Nikki Haley this past Monday, utilizing the line of insult that had numerous critics screaming for Don Lemon, a host for CNN, to get fired from his position.

Goldberg showed the group a short clip of a campaign ad for Haley — which was made public along with the official announcement that she was kicking off her campaign to secure the 2024 Republican presidential nomination — and apparently took issue with the claim from the former ambassador to the United Nations that she would bring out a “new generation” of leadership into Washington.

Haley, making a nod to the idea that most American politicians were already “past their prime,” stated as part of her ad, “It’s time for a new generation of leadership.”

Goldberg put a stop to the clip, interrupting, “You’re not a new generation. You’re 51! What are you talking about?”

Alyssa Farah Griffin, the show’s Republican cohost, was quick to fight back and argue that when compared to much of Washington, D.C., Haley was certainly another generation. At the age of 51 she is roughly 29 years younger than the current president and a staggering 38 years younger than retiring Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), for example.

“But it’s not a new generation,” stated Goldberg, making the suggestion that Haley herself did not even count as a “new generation” because she still upheld Republican ideals. “She may be younger than most of those people but her rhetoric is the same. She’s saying the same beats and I love the young kid, but you know what? The only way you’re going to get younger people to run, dude, is if you’re out there talking to people and saying, ‘Run!'”

The complaint from Goldberg has come out in the wake of a very awkward segment on CNN where 56-year-old anchor Don Lemon made the claim that Haley, who is 51, was actually “not in her prime.”

Speaking up to try and drown out the objections of his two female co-hosts, Kaitlan Collins and Poppy Harlow, Lemon went on to state that it was very common knowledge that a woman’s “prime” was just her 20s, 30s, and maybe her 40s — and then directed anyone who did not agree with him to just “Google it.”

In the wake of the statement from Lemon, critics have sounded the call for the former primetime anchor to be ousted from the network altogether. Lemon has spent this past weekend seemingly AWOL, even missing the broadcast for Monday, but CNN has shot down any reports that his sudden vacation is connected to the backlash.
